AU Differences (List form):
-He's a man, as opposed to his Apocrypha incarnation, in which he is a female.
-Not much of a difference, everything up to his re-awakening is untouched from canon, but apart from that, he's now a modern day uncle to a child that attracts troubles like a freaking magnet. And a PE teacher.
-Parts of his personality differs from his Apocrypha interpretation, he's more polite and reserved compared to the other's more brash attitude. He will revert to that personality when he starts to feel pressured by things.
Canon Standing: After the Blood Fort debacle
Personality:
From afar, Mordred seems like your ordinary PE teacher; strict, demanding, supportive as well as being an all-around nice guy when off his job. While the fact that he's popular in school is true, it's also known that he tends to be flustered with all the attention he gets at times, which makes him all the more popular with the girls in his school. Regardless of his 'fame', though, he's quite modest when it comes to well, everything, and tries to downplay anything he does to the point of it being an artform onto itself.
One of the prime reasons he attracts a lot of people to him would be his friendliness. Compared to the other guys and male teachers in the school, it's hard to believe that a guy like him could exist. Yet there he is, always willing to lend a hand to troubled students and giving them the guidance they need. While this attitude is normal for a teacher, it really extends to his personal life as well, what with him at the very least working part-time jobs in other places (they're big eaters, so they need more money to survive okay...), be it a store clerk or even helping with the usual owl shift of the local precinct.
And like any other normal people (haha, normal), he has a hobby and it doubles as a club activity at the school: Kendo. His teaching style is slightly unorthodox considering his foreign background, but it always worked out alright. The club's purpose was not to be the best in the sport, but rather to teach the concepts of the sport to students so they could improve on their own path as opposed to being directed by another person in a set direction. This style of teaching is of course, prevalent in his courses where he just teaches the basics of a certain sport and leaves it to the students to improve their own way. Freedom of one's choice is something he always revelled in and perhaps one of the things he preaches about the most to others as opposed to the basics of the subjects he's teaching, to his students and Arturia's chagrin.
Of course, most of these aspects hid what's actually his real self: a man haunted by his former life, be it his old decisions and his greatest betrayal of King Arthur--his own father--to the time where he got dragged into an adventure by the Knights of the Round Table without any say in the matter. He regretted his decisions as Mordred of the Round Table, and if life gives him an opportunity to change it, even if it is a small chance, he'll take it, as he felt that nothing could surpass his despair over ending his father's life and surviving through the ordeal.
The difference between the Mordred of old can be traced back to a specific feeling: Guilt. All his actions in the present, from adopting Arturia to being a teacher, could be traced back to this feeling as he wishes not to repeat any of his past mistakes. He had to learn the pain of living alone as well as raising a child without much help from other people. Thankfully he never regretted the decision, and turned out to actually be a convincing father figure for the young and confused girl in his protection. He's able to tell when someone is lying or not (this instinct is a must for any father with a young girl in tow), as well as having a protective instinct that tends to take over when a certain child is either getting into or just got into trouble.
This explains why he feels that the freedom of choice is one thing everyone should treasure. For most of his first life, he was nothing but Morgana's tool to stage Arturia's own downfall, and had little time to spend being himself around other knights as he strived to be as good, if not better than his own 'Father'. While he treasured the moments that he did have with the Knights of his own volition as opposed to other's dictation, he knew that they wouldn't be able to forgive his betrayal of trust. He never expected them to, as even if he is clueless on feelings, he certainly knows that the pain of having your own trust betrayed stays for a long time.
He hates the presence of weapons in his life as Mordred has found out the hard way that no matter what kind of era he's in, mankind still used numerous items classified as 'weapons' in order to end their conflicts. After knowing his end in the hands of Arturia and the fact that he was abandoned by his Mother made the bitterness even more apparent as he despises people that abuse their friends for profit and always tries to find ways to save those who are bullied. In a sense it made him even more heroic than he used to be, but this wanton obsession of saving people who are used can be dangerous to him too, mostly in other ways.
Key Personality Differences:
-He's more fatherly than in canon
-He's a man
-A bit more mature too
-Is less prone for validation from parental figures.
-Though, he will revert to a brash speaking style and will curse when angered.
Canon Powers:
Sword Skills: Being a former knight, Mordred is well-versed in the art of the sword, and definitely willing to use it to harm others that wish to threaten his family members. Basically he's really good at them, and while his own personal sword is missing at the moment, he's just as deadly with other swords that could be found in this era.
Canon Weapons|Items:
1x plain Katana.
Canon Allies:
N/A
Canon Baggage:
A set of formal clothes
Two sets of gym clothing
Three sets of casual clothes (all in a shade of sort of painful red)
